Streetscape
College Hill recieved a $1.5 million grant through Cincinnati
Neighborhood Business Districts United (CNBDU) for a streetscape
revitalization project along Hamilton Avenue. Improving the streetscape
with new lighting, landscaping, paving materials, and other upgrades is
a keystone of the 1999 College Hill Urban Development Plan. Other than
a few remaining ornamental trees, the streetscape project is completed.
Business District Gateways
In order to develop a stronger identity for the College Hill Business
District and reinforce arrival and departure to and from the District,
two gateway elements are proposed. Each should be substantive
architecture and be significant, strong visual elements and not get
lost in the visual clutter of the business district. These gateways
will operate in tandem with the Streetscape Project to reinforce a
sense of place in the College Hill Business District.
CHCURC was awarded funding through the City of Cincinnati and CNBDU for
completion of the Gateway Project.
Clean and Safe Neighborhood Grant
College Hill together with three other Cincinnati neighborhoods
recieved funding for security camera surveillance systems. College
Hill's system is installed along Hamilton Avenue in the business
district. Securing this grant and completing the camera project is key
to improving the atmosphere along Hamilton
Avenue and continued revitalization of our business district. The
cameras are linked together and accessible through the internet,
which
will allow monitoring by the Cincinnati Police Department and Citizens
on Patrol.
